Across Louisiana, reports of increased ICE activity have created fear and uncertainty in many of our communities. For families with children, that fear is deeply personal.
In Baton Rouge,ICE recently detained parents that were on their way to their children's school function. The parents have not been released, and as of now, no one has been able to confirm where they were taken. Their children are currently in the custody of a caregiver—safe for the moment, but separated from their parents with no information, no timeline, and no answers.
No child should be left wondering where their parents are or if they will ever come home.
We can believe in border security
andbelieve in humane, lawful enforcement. What we cannot accept is a system that removes parents without transparency, leaves children behind, and offers no coordination with local officials or caregivers.
Louisiana needs leadership that will:
- Demand accountability and transparency in immigration enforcement
- Ensure children are protected and families are not abandoned to chaos
- Safeguard due process and basic human dignity
- Work with schools, caregivers, and community organizations when enforcement actions occur
This is not about politics—it’s about responsibility, humanity, and leadership when families are in crisis.
That work requires resources. If you believe Louisiana can and must do better, I ask you to stand with us today.
Your contribution helps us organize, advocate, and speak up for families who cannot afford to be forgotten.
