From undocumented… to documented on the ballot.Michelle’s story is a journey from Zimbabwe to Denton County; and from living in the shadows to stepping into service. There was a time she lived with the fear that every knock at the door could change her life. Now she’s knocking on doors asking her neighbors to join her in changing the justice system
From praying for safety… to fighting for fairness.
For 17 years, Michelle has organized for working families — for affordable housing, strong public schools, and basic respect. Now she’s running forDenton County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 6, because she knows how quickly a small moment in a local courtroom can turn into a life-altering crisis.
Most people will never see a “big” courtroom — but they will experience JP court. It’s where a traffic ticket can snowball into a warrant, where a debt dispute can wreck a paycheck, where an eviction notice can destabilize an entire family, and where people show up hoping they’ll be treated like humans, not case numbers.
Michelle is running to build a court that helps people stay on their feet — withfairness in every case, clear communication, and efficiency with compassion. A court that feels like it belongs to the community.
